About Egyptian Pyramids

Ancient Egyptian Pyramids have always been a mystery in this world. Egypt is the most beautiful place in the world and it preserves many monuments. Its interesting to see so many beautiful sites at a place which predominantly is a desert. If you visit this place then you will see that there are many pyramids and all those pyramids looks alike and have the same triangular structure. Ancient Egyptian Pyramids are known as the temple of the Egyptian people and they were built under the rule of many kings.


Huge limestone blocks would have been floated down the River Nile from the quarries to Giza. Here, numerous laborers would set to work on them. Of course, manual laborers were not the only workers necessary. You'd also find architects, and even priests and astronomers, who would advise on the most suitable sites for the pyramids.

The shape of the Egypt pyramids is said to have been derived from the primordial mound that early Egyptians believed Earth was created from. Also important to the shape was the fact that the pyramids were built as burial chambers, and the Egyptians are also thought to have believed that this shape would help to "launch" the deceased into the afterlife (through a tunnel at the uppermost point of the pyramid - this is seen in the Great Pyramid of Giza). Pyramids were also originally covered with a white limestone covering, to give them a shining appearance when viewed from afar. This was because of the third reason for the pyramid's shape - an echoing of the sun's rays.


Building a full-scale Egyptian pyramid nowadays, and using ancient technology, is impractical. However, one can derive a further understanding of making pyramids through the use of modeling clay. The design of the ancient Egyptian pyramids is timeless. Thus the pyramid design is used as the main structure or ornamental structure in museums in France and casinos in Las Vegas.
